Hottest day of the year expected as temperatures are to hit 30ºC in Newark and Sherwood

Temperatures are set to hit 30ºC in Newark and Sherwood today (Thursday, June 25) as the heatwave continues, ahead of expected thunderstorms.

The Met Office is forecasting a UV level of eight today and is urging people to stay safe in the hot weather.

Meanwhile, NHS England has issued a level three heatwave action alert and says the hot weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms from tomorrow, as the heatwave comes to an end.
