Newark College students fun run in Sconce and Devon Park, Newark, raised money for Newark Foodbank
A group of teenagers has completed the latest in a series of activities to support their community.
The Newark College students took part in a fun run at the town's Sconce and Devon Park, raising £200 so far for Newark Foodbank.
The project is part of the National Citizenship Service’s One Million Hours of Doing Good initiative, to encourage teenagers to take an active role in helping the country recover post-covid-19.
James Guest, of the college, said: "With the country starting to get back on its feet, some teens in Newark have been spending their summer doing their bit to rebuild local communities and create positive change.
"The team in Newark is currently supporting Sconce and Devon Park, helping the park rangers prepare the park for the yearly Green Flag Awards and raising public awareness of the historical significance of the park.
"The group has been weeding, mowing, planting flowers, pruning, digging and maintaining footpaths. The group also completed a fun run in the park to encourage people to exercise outdoors and to raise money for food donations."
