Nottinghamshire's Fire and Rescue service attend fire at Briggs Metals limited, Great North Road, Newark.
More than 40 firefighters are tackling a blaze at a scrapyard in Newark.
The fire is on the site of Briggs Metals limited, Great North Road, Newark.
An eyewitness first noticed the fire at 11:15am.
Nottinghamshire's Fire and Rescue service said eight fire appliances are at the scene.
It has been described as a big fire. Eight pumps are in attendance.
A member of staff at the Children 1st nursery, which is situated next to the site, said the fire is located at the back of their garden.
"No firefighters have asked us to evacuate," she said.
Newark Police have closed the road at the livestock roundabout.
A lorry driver, who was delivering to Newark Sugar Factory, is parked at the mini roundabout and is helping turn cars around.
A wide cordon is in place because gas cylinders are involve and the fire service, as of yet, is unable to confirm if there has been any injuries.
Fire crews have been drawn in from all over the county.
Two engines from Newark are joined by crews from Nottingham's London Road station, Edwinstowe station, and Carlton station.
A reporter is currently at the scene.
