Hundreds attend fair
Hundreds attended the annual winter craft fair at Southwell Minster on Saturday.
There were 71 stalls selling a variety of homemade crafts, ranging from a sugar Father Christmas to glass furnishings.
A selection of ceramics, jewellery and art demonstrations were also on show.
Around £1,500 was raised towards the upkeep of the minster.
An event organiser, Mrs Dilys Carby, said: “It costs £3,000 a day to run the minster so we appreciate the help.
“The money raised was made up from stall holders fees and the sale of refreshments.”
Mrs Carby said the fair had been held for six years and this year’s event was a very high standard.
She said: “I think most of the stalls made a profit. People seem to like coming to this event and there is such a high quality of craftsmanship on display.”
Entry to the fair was free and the refreshments and cakes were provided by members of the congregation and staff at the minster.
“I am very grateful to everyone who made the day run smoothly and to members of the congregation who helped out with refreshments,” Mrs Carby said.
Plans are already under way for next year’s fair.
