Newark Police seize off-road bike from rider for driving illegally in Newark and Balderton
Police have seized an off-road bike from its rider for driving in a ‘dangerous manner’.
Newark police seized the bike that had been driving around Newark and Balderton yesterday (Tuesday) evening.
Officers were first alerted to the vehicle mid afternoon when it was driving up and down the Sustrans Track during end of school time.
The bike narrowly missed a group of children and nearly ran over two officers on foot who attemped to stop it.
Rota Three officers and one of Balderton Beat Team’s officers made several inquiries and managed to identify some of the offenders via CCTV.
The off-road bike was seized in the town centre later in the afternoon.
A Newark Police spokesman said: “Our message to you is very simple, if you are riding an off-road bike on our roads and putting the public at risk, we will stop you, we will seize your vehicle and you will be prosecuted.
“Thank you to the public for their ongoing support and please continue to report any illegal off-road bikes to us if it is safe to do so.”
The offenders were identified and the vehicle will not be returned as it is not road legal.
