Reader's letter: Important matters
The country, no the world is on the verge of economic collapse, caused by inflation levels not seen for many a year, so what does one face when picking up a copy of the Advertiser but the headline “Going Shopping, Bring Your Bucket And Spade (Advertiser, July 7).
Do our council leaders not watch television, read the press, etc?
The public already pays tax on earnings, and are then taxed almost to extinction by demands from all over the place.
So what idea comes forward? Newark on Sea.
I am not unsympathetic to the idea but should councils be reining in on unnecessary expenditure and concentrating on real problems? The state of slabbing around the town is a disgrace.
On top of which, how much will this folly cost and, more importantly, what will happen to the hardware at the end?
We recently spent a few days in Norfolk, and on Sunday visited Diss where all carparks were free on a Sunday.
I think something more positive could be done to save this town than trying to either relocate the town or the sea. — B. CLARK, Balderton.
