Information sought on Southwell burglaries
Detectives investigating a spate of burglaries in Southwell are appealing for the public’s help to identify the offenders.
During the evening of Saturday, March 26, there were five burglaries or attempted burglaries in a very small area of the town.
Officers believe all the offences, which took place in the Westgate area of Southwell, were committed between 7pm and 9.30pm, and that they were carried out by the same offenders.
Attempts were made to break into addresses in Westgate and Warrands Close, while cash, jewellery and electrical equipment was stolen from properties in Hillside Drive and Lowes Wong.
The offenders also broke into a property in Vicarage Road, but nothing was taken.
Pc Richard Gettings, who is investigating the offences, said: “There were only four burglaries or attempted burglaries in Southwell in January and February, so to have five on the same night is extremely unusual.
“The offenders must have spent quite some time in the area and are believed to have been on foot, so I would urge anyone who lives in West Gate or any of the surrounding streets to cast their minds back to that Saturday night and think about whether they saw anything or anyone unusual in the area.”
Anyone with any information about these incidents should contact Pc Gettings in County South CID on 0300 300 9999 extension 809 7638.
Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
