Director of hair salon Inizio on Stodman Street, Newark, goes all Challenge Anneka to promote the town centre's offering

The director of a Newark hair salon will be channelling his inner Anneka on Saturday as he races round the town to support its independent shops.

Les Jones, of Inizio, will be speeding from shop to shop, with a cameraman in hot pursuit, in the style of the Challenge Anneka television programme.

They will be calling at about a dozen shops, where the owners will meet them at the door, and spend a minute introducing themselves, their business, what they sell and what they are doing to make sure people can shop safely.

The door-to-door dash, starting at Inizio on Stodman Street at 11am, should take 15 to 20 minutes.

Les said: "I love to support Newark's independent businesses and I thought this would be a fun way to show people that Newark town centre is open, safe, and has lots to offer."

The filming will be done by Kevin Guthrie of Guthrie Therapy, and will be streamed live on the Inizio Facebook page.
