PlumHall set to perform at London Road Congregational Church, Newark
An internationally recognised singer-songwriter duo, including a former member of Chumbawamba, are heading to town.
Critically acclaimed songwriters husband and wife duo Michelle Plum and Nick Hall form PlumHall and are renowned for their exquisite vocal harmonies and excellent musicianship.
Fresh from their storming success as the legendary Fairport Convention’s special guests on their winter tour 2023 and following their sell-out concert at Newark Congregational Church on London Road, last year, the duo is coming back on March 15.
They will once again perform live at Newark Congregational Church with support from singer-songwriter Mark Spruce.
The tour will hear hits from the duo’s third album released on June 7, 2024 — One Star Awake — which blends contemporary folk and roots with elements of electronica and orchestration.
It features special guest performances by Ric Sanders and Eliza Marshall.
Doors will open at 6.15pm and the showtime will be at 7pm. Tickets are £12.50 each, available from the church, on 07507560614 or by email ricthevic53@gmail.com.
There will be no alcoholic drinks on sale, the audience is welcome to bring their own refreshment. Tea, coffee, juice and cakes will be on sale during the interval.
Michelle Plum was formerly a member of Chumbawamba, replacing Lou Watts for four years, and was a touring session musician with The Chris Norman Band for four years, while Nick Hall has been a touring member of Ian Prowse and Amsterdam, Magna Carta, and The Hall Brothers.
Richard Gascoyne said the church is very excited that PlumHall will be the first major artists to play in their all as they launch Live At London Road.
The initiative has been formed to bring live music and drama, within a small setting to Newark.
Mr Gascoyne added: “We are confident we can offer local and international artists a chance to play in a small intimate hall where the audience will be able to appreciate the music and drama without the noise of a busy bar nearby.
“Our aim is to provide quality entertainment that may otherwise go unnoticed as larger venues cannot support small audience numbers.”
