An investigation has been launched after a man’s body was found near a village.

Nottinghamshire Police officers were called to the Southwell Trail near Edingley Beck, Kirklington after a man was spotted in the water.

Detective inspector James Oakton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained but we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.

“Officers are currently working to understand the full sequence of events that led him to be in the water and will now prepare a file for the coroner."
