Nottinghamshire Police launches investigation into One Stop in Fernwood break-in
An investigation has been launched after a village’s convenience store front door was smashed by a drain cover in an attempted burglary.
Nottinghamshire Police officers were called to reports of a burglary at One Stop in Ruby Avenue, Fernwood just after 2.30am on Monday (March 10).
When officers arrived they saw that the front doors of the shop had been smashed by a drain cover.
CCTV footage shows two males smashing the front of the shop and attempting to steal items from the cigarette counter, which triggered the alarm.
They fled the scene with a small number of items including a charity box.
Officers are now investigating the incident, which includes looking for forensic opportunities and trawling CCTV coverage to identify the offenders.
Neighbourhood inspector Charlotte Ellam said: “We are treating this incident extremely seriously. The offenders have caused serious damage to the front of the store and stolen a charity box, which is completely abhorrent.
“We are carrying out a number of lines of inquiry to find those responsible.”
