Balderton born man, co-creators of Lincoln and Beyond blog, wins ‘Best Local Content’ category at the 2024 Traverse Creator Awards in London

After bringing people the best of Lincolnshire via their blog, an enterprising couple have now won a top award for their efforts.

Balderton born and raised Alex Trembeth and his wife Lisa are the creators of Lincoln and Beyond, that aims to help people love their time in Lincoln and the surrounding area.

Alex grew up in Newark and went to the Grove School (now Newark Academy), before moving away to London.

Then in 2019, Alex and Lisa decided to move back to the area and settled in Lincoln.

“At the time, we were already running another blog site called Career Gappers, which inspires people to blend work and travel,” Alex explained.

“When moving to Lincoln, we had an initial idea for creating another blog project dedicated to the area, to help inspire people to visit and enjoy their time around the city.

“We also loved the thought that it would give us the motivation to enjoy our time here to the fullest as well.”

When the Covid-19 pandemic hit in 2020, the couple’s travel-focused blog took a back seat and this gave them the time to focus on creating Lincoln and Beyond.

“Because of the very different circumstances at the time, we initially decided to give it a focus on helping the city to bring visitors back as the world opened up again,” Alex said.

“We created a series of articles telling stories about local hospitality businesses, and the ways they innovated to get through the pandemic.”

As the world began to reopen following the pandemic, the blog became focused on giving readers a glimpse behind the scenes of various visitor experiences and places to eat in Lincoln, as well as guides and recommendations for things to do in and around the city.

And now their hard work has paid off as the blog has won an international award – beating hundreds of other entries to win the "Best Local Content" category at the 2024 Traverse Creator Awards in London.

Traverse is an international network and community for digital content creators in the travel industry, and these annual awards recognise outstanding talent in the sector.

“There were over 700 entries to this year's awards, including many of the world's most recognised travel content creators, and so it is a real honour for us to receive this accolade,” Alex said.
