As I See It: Sherwood Forest MP Michelle Welsh writes about A614 improvement scheme approval
Many of you will know by now that work is moving ahead on the A614 improvement scheme, writes Michelle Welsh, MP for Sherwood Forest.
After years of campaigning, the funding is secured and the project is underway.
This £41.7 million investment will improve five key junctions — including the Ollerton roundabout — and make journeys safer, smoother and quicker.
I know how often local people have raised concerns about congestion and road safety, so it’s good to see real progress at last.
Nottinghamshire County Council is leading on the contracts and the delivery, so I’ll be keeping in touch with them to make sure the work gets done and any disruption is kept to a minimum.
Alongside this, the Ollerton Town Centre Regeneration Project is moving forward thanks to Levelling Up funding. This is a huge opportunity for our community. By 2028, we’ll see a modernised town centre with new jobs, better spaces and a stronger local economy. It’s a once-in-a-generation investment, and I’m determined we make the most of it.
On a more personal note, I’m also setting up a new Ollerton Hub. This will make it easier for you to pop in, speak to me or my team, and get support with any issue — big or small. Details will be out soon on my social media and in the press.
As always, I’m here to listen and to help. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me about roads, regeneration or anything else on your mind.
