Jazz musician synonymous with Newark music scene Denny Goodwin celebrates 90th birthday

A musician synonymous with the Newark music scene for decades has celebrated his 90th birthday with no signs of calling it a day, writes Gianluca Spataro.

Denny Goodwin’s astonishing jazz music career has lasted for more than 60 years, beginning in India and culminating in a celebrity status in the Newark area and a cult following.

Jazz was Denny’s first love. However, while at university in India, Denny would have other hobbies, such as hockey, which he enjoyed playing at a high level, proving in his early twenties he was a man of many talents.
