MP for Newark and Bingham, Robert Jenrick, suggests easing of lockdown restrictions is still on the mind of the prime minister.
At the time of writing, over 65 million coronavirus vaccine doses have been administered, writes MP Robert Jenrick.
What a tremendous achievement by all of those involved.
Getting your first or second dose not only protects you, but also protects those around you.
Whenever you are offered a vaccine, please do take up the offer.
If you are over 30 you can book your vaccine online or by calling 119.
If you are over 40 and yet to receive your first dose you, can turn up to the vaccine centre at Newark Showground without an appointment and get jabbed.
As my age group was called, I took up the offer and booked my vaccination, getting it a week ago, making me the last member of Cabinet as the youngest member.
As we know, the Indian variant is slowly spreading to become the dominant variant in the UK and cases have slightly risen. In hotspots the vaccine rollout has been accelerated and a large amount of community testing has taken place, helping break the chain of transmission.
Although this is a slight cause for concern, from the data so far the Prime Minister believes there is no reason at this stage to delay restrictions being lifted on June 21, where most if not all legal limits will be lifted, and the highest risk businesses being allowed to reopen.
The data shows vaccines work, but also shows it is even more important to make sure you get your second dose to have substantial protection.
A final review of the planned easing will take place on or before the June 14.
To give us the best opportunity to proceed with the planned unlocking we all need to band together and continue to follow the rules.
Although we are experiencing fantastic weather and taking the opportunity to enjoy it with others, we still need to be cautious.
If you haven’t already done so, you can order rapid tests to your home.
This is important as by getting tested regularly we can continue to break the chain of transmission. You can order your tests online at www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests or by calling 119.
