Newark Town FC hold try outs at YMCA Community and Activity Village in Newark for female footballers to join Ladies First Team and Developement Team ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Aspiring female footballers had the chance to shine as they took a shot at joining a growing club last weekend.

Newark Town are currently looking for new players aged 16 or over to join its Ladies First Team and Developement Team ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The club welcomed around a dozen participants of all abilities to an Open Training Session at the YMCA Community and Activity Village on Lord Hawke Way, Newark, last Sunday.

In both a morning and afternoon session they ran ability drills, took part in skill sessions, and were placed into a mini mock game setting.

Assistant Coach Alvin Sheldon said: “Everyone that took part showed real promise, but in particular we’re keeping our eyes on a young 16-year-old goalkeeper and a quality midfielder too.

“We have big goals for the first team as we seek promotion — the aim is to continue to develop these girls and one day bring them into the squad.”

Newark Town Ladies 1sts are looking to do one better after finishing runners-up in the Nottinghamshire Girls and Ladies Football League Division One last season.

They were also runners-up in the Nottinghamshire county cup final, and the hope is that new talent could help boost the squad when they need it most to secure promotion.
