Owner of Petit Versailles, on Stodman Street, Newark held a sucessful late-shopping event
A business owner is encouraging other businesses to hold late-night shopping events after holding a successful sales-boost event.
Hajra Kemari, of Petit Versailles on Stodman Street, Newark, held the shopping event which saw the clothing store open until 7.30pm on Thursday (September 26) , with 50% off all items in the shop.
With Christmas just around the corner, the Portuguese designer is now hoping to encourage other retailers to keep their doors open later.
“The idea behind this event came from the fact that many customers told us they walked past the shop in the evening and that they really liked some items, but unfortunately it was always closed,” she said.
“The retailers in Newark and the community in general are facing a difficult phase with such high inflation.
“So this initiative offered a new opportunity to our customers and also helped us as it boosted our sales. It was some sort of early Black Friday to thank everyone for the continuous love and support.”
The late-night shopping matched with the Steampunk Society’s monthly meeting at the Flying Circus, which paid the business owner a visit before heading for the meeting.
Due to public demand, the shop will be open again until 7.30pm this Thursday (October 3), with a 50% discount on all items again.
The Steampunk collections were the most popular and with the Christmas Steampunk festival coming up, it was an opportunity for people to get their products half price.
Some customers even bought Christmas presents and vouchers.
“It went beyond our expectations, I dare to say it was a success,” Hajra said.
“I think other retailers around the town should adopt this idea, especially with Christmas being just around the corner.
“I also want to thank everyone who made it such a successful event.”
