Nitrous Oxide or laughing gas cannisters are being dumped in and around Newark, Balderton and Farndon, says Newark Police
Laughing gas cannisters are being dumped in and around the Newark, Balderton and Farndon areas.
Newark Police has received several reports regarding the Nitrous Oxide (Nos) cannisters being littered.
Though these items have several legitimate uses, the gas also comes under the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016 and can cause side effects including dizziness, severe headaches, nerve damage, problems walking, depletion of white blood cells, hallucinations and, in extreme cases, can prove to be fatal.
It is an offence to supply a psychoactive substance under the act and this could lead to a sentence of up to seven years in prison and/or a fine.
