New app PayByPhone replaces RingGo in council carparks across Newark and Sherwood

A new app needs to be downloaded by anyone wanting to pay by phone to use council carparks in Newark and Sherwood.

PayByPhone replaced RingGo on Saturday as the mobile parking payment provider in Newark and Sherwood’s off-street carparks, available in six locations in the district.

New signs in the carparks alert residents and visitors that the location codes have changed.

Once the free PayByPhone app has been downloaded, drivers can identify the location number of the carpark using the nearby location feature.

PayByPhone users can also choose to receive text message reminders before a parking session expires, and can then extend their parking sessions remotely in accordance with the carparks’ terms and conditions.

This feature is also available to those with an Apple Watch using watchOS 4.

In addition to cashless parking and Extend-From-Anywhere, users can also use the maps feature, which allows drivers to locate parking areas before they leave for their destination, and then pin their vehicle location once they have parked.

A short video has been created by PayByPhone and the council, showing some of the area’s well-known attractions and beauty spots, and giving the new parking codes, which can be found here.
