Leading architect visits Newark
The first female president of the professional association of architects in Britain has visited Newark to get an insight into the work of a local practice.
Ruth Reed, the president of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) spent the afternoon at Benoy, on Northgate, yesterday as part of a three-day visit to the East Midlands.
International architects Benoy began in Collingham in 1947 and still have their headquarters in Newark, although their projects now span the world.
Ruth Reed, who in September became the first woman to be elected president of RIBA in its 175-year history,
said she was very interested to talk with a big practice in the international arena.
