Leaping in for school visit

An Olympic triple jump hopeful gave a demonstration to pupils at Maun Infants’ School, Ollerton.

Laura Samuel, 20, spoke in assembly and demonstrated her hop, step and jump technique, which earned her a British under-20 record of 13m 52cms.

PE coordinator Mrs Julie Westbury said: “The children were in awe when she did a jump — there were gasps in the hall.”

Laura also helped the pupils to raise money for Sports For Schools, which arranged the visit, and new PE equipment.

They raised around £900 by doing an exercise circuit.
