A new fundraising event full of lights, fun and music is being organised by Beaumond House Community Hospice’s fundraising team.

Light The Night — Newark’s first glow run — will be on October 18.

Fundraising and events officer Holly Fowler said they were always looking for new ideas.

“We wanted to do something a bit different and thought this would be a fun night. It is open to everyone and anyone,” she said.

Participants are being asked to dress as brightly as possible. T-shirts in yellow, green, pink, blue and white will be available to buy along with other merchandise.

Holly is hoping the event will attract about 800 people.

“You can run, walk or dance,” she said.

“It is something new, fun and will raise much-needed funding for the hospice.”

The 5k route will be at Newark Show-ground. Registration starts at 5.30pm, with the event starting at 7pm.

The event is being sponsored by Eden Hall Day Spa, Elston. It is hoped other sponsors will come on board.

An early-bird offer is available until August 17 with entry £15 for adults, £5 for a child, and £30 for a family of two adults and two children. The price will then go up to £20, £7.50 and £45.

The fee covers registration, a finishers’ medal and glow stick.

The first hundred home will receive a water bottle donated by Knowhow.

“The entry fees cover the cost so it would be great if everybody could get some sponsorship too,” Holly said.
