Major incident declared in Lincolnshire due to severe flooding
A major incident has been declared in Lincolnshire as a result of the severe flooding.
As a result of widespread flooding today (Monday, January 6), a major incident has been declared in Lincolnshire by the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum.
In a post on X, a spokesperson said: “We have declared a major incident in Lincolnshire in response to the adverse weather over the past few days.
“Emergency services have operational responses in place for a number of ongoing incidents.”
Lincolnshire is the second county to declare a major incident today, after Leicestershire and Rutland was the first earlier today.
School children are stranded at Edenham Primary School, near Bourne, and emergency services are working to get them home safely.
In Grantham, the banks of the River Witham have broken along Belton Lane, with Lincolnshire Police assisting residents and people in the surrounding area.
There have been other disruptions across the county across the day, with roads closed and transport disrupted.
The A1 between the A607 near Grantham and the B1174 near Little Ponton has reopened after flooding this morning.
However, The A1 northbound between the A607 at Harlaxton and Melton Mowbray turn off and Valley Lane, Long Bennington and Cotham turn off remains closed.
