Newark: Man arrested for multitude of driving offences after trying to evade cops
A man was arrested for several driving offences after trying to evade cops in Newark.
Officers from Rota 4 were conducting routine patrols in the town when they noticed a suspicious vehicle.
They tried to get the vehicle to stop, however, the offenders decided to speed up and attempted to make off.
The matter came to a head when the offenders pulled onto a side street and abandoned the vehicle, causing it to crash into a residential garden wall.
Four suspects exited the vehicle and tried to make off through a number of private gardens.
Cops swiftly detained one of the passengers while additional officers attended the area to look for the rest of the offenders.
The detained passenger was searched and a small amount of cannabis was found on him. They were dealt with by way of a cannabis warning.
With assistance from the neighbourhood policing team, officers were able to successfully put a cordon on the area, leading them to locate the driver of the vehicle.
An 18-year-old man was subsequently arrested for a number of offences: failing to stop for the police, driving on a provisional licence, driving without insurance, failing to stop at an road traffic collision, driving while over the prescribed limit for cannabis and possession of cannabis.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt and the car was seized.
