Newark man, 39, charged with burglary after elderly woman found intruder in her home near Lincoln Road Bridge




A 39-year-old man has been charged in connection with a burglary in Newark.

An elderly woman discovered an intruder in her home in the Lincoln Road Bridge area at around 10.30pm on Wednesday (July 8).

She hit the offender with her walking sticks but he pushed her over before leaving the property.

Michael Barrett, of Yorke Drive in Newark, was arrested nearby.

The 39-year-old has now been charged with burglary with violence and actual bodily harm.

He's been remanded to appear before Nottingham Magistrates today (Friday, July 10).
