Two women assaulted and car taken during disturbance on London Road, Newark

Two women were assaulted and a car was taken during a disturbance in Newark.

Police were called to an address on London Road shortly before 2am this morning (Wednesday) to reports of a disturbance.

When officers arrived they were informed a car had also been taken from the scene without the owner’s consent.

A 32-year-old man was later arrested at a nearby property on suspicion of assault and taking a motor vehicle without consent. He remains in police custody

Inspector Heather Sutton, district commander for Newark, said: “This was a frightening incident for the people involved and I am pleased that we were able to apprehend a suspect so quickly and also to return the car to its rightful owner.”
