Man arrested and charged with assault on woman while carrying knife on Parliament Street, Newark

A man attacked a woman by punching her head and body while in possession of a knife.

Raymond Canham was arrested and charged with the assault that happened on Parliament Street, Newark, on Sunday at around 9am.

The 46-year-old appeared at Mansfield Magistrates' Court on Monday for the offence.

Canham, of Parliament Street, Newark, has been remanded in custody until March 27 when he is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.
