Newark man charged with manslaughter and aggravated burglary in connection with Tuxford raid

A Newark man has been charged with manslaughter and aggravated burglary following an incident during a raid on a home earlier this year.

The Crown Prosecution Service has said that David McCandless, 44, of Wright Street, faces the charges following the death of Taylor Green during a burglary at Lodge Lane in Tuxford, on February 25.

The CPS confirmed last week that Mason Meanwell, of Bryron Close in Newark, had been charged with manslaughter and that the householder would not face charges in relation to Mr Green’s death.

The complicated case is the result of ongoing proceedings — and the authorities have urged the public not to speculate about what happened while the court cases are heard.

Rachael Dean of the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Following further developments in the police investigation into the incident that led to the death of Taylor Green, the Crown Prosecution Service has decided to prosecute David McCandless with manslaughter and aggravated burglary.

“Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest to pursue criminal proceedings.

“We have worked closely with Nottinghamshire police as they carried out their investigation.”

Mr McCandless will appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court tomorrow (Saturday October 11).
