Man dies in A1 accident

A man has died in the accident on the southbound carriageway of the A1 near Carlton-on-Trent this morning.

The 26-year-old was travelling southbound in a Vauxhall Zafira at 5.20am when it was in a collision with a HGV.

The accident happened close to the exit road at Carlton-on-Trent.

The man, from Warsop Vale, died at the scene.

The southbound carriageway was closed all morning and for part of this afternoon but is now re-opened.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anybody with dash cam footage that might help to contact them.
