Person seen entering disused former Newark High School on London Road

A person was seen entering a disused Newark high school this morning.

A reader told the Advertiser they saw someone going into the former Lilley and Stone, which was last used as Newark High School, at 8am.

The school bells were also ringing.

The man was using the side entrance to the left of the building.

The incident has been reported to Nottinghamshire Police and officers were dispatched.

The force has been approached for comment.

It comes as a group of Travellers continue to occupy the land to the rear of the school.

Newark and Sherwood District Council is aware and is assisting the landowner regarding that issue.
