Newark: Man in serious but stable condition after crash in Weston

A man was found with a serious head injury inside a car that flipped on to its side in the middle of a road.

The driver was taken to by air ambulance after residents heard the collision and alerted emergency services to the incident.

It involved a silver Kia Sorento car on Great North Road, Weston, at around 7.20pm yesterday (Thursday).

The road was closed until 10am today while police carried out a forensic investigation.

The victim is in a serious but stable condition.

Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire’s serious collision investigation unit, said: "We are currently working to establish how this incident came to happen and are appealing to anyone who may have any information that could help.

"If you were passing the area around the time it happened and saw anything suspicious on the roads or if you have dash-cam footage, we'd be really keen to hear from you.

"The man remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital and our thoughts are with him and his family who are being supported at this time."

People with information are asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident 779 of July 21.
