Anyone looking for a role model worthy of the name could not do much better than turn to Lance-corporal Johno Lee. The 28-year-old, from Coddington, had his right leg amputated after being injured in Afghanistan.
Despite that, he has continued to push himself to take on new challenges that test him to the limit.
Lance-corporal Lee was disappointed that a planned 100-mile trek across the Sahara with the Pilgrim Bandits, a special forces charity of which he is a patron, had to be cancelled.
Rather than simply accepting that the adventure was over, he started looking for something else.
As a result he will be part of a team, including other amputees, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro next year.
When they make it, the amputees will be the first to the summit using prosthetic limbs.
Lance-corporal Lee’s indefatigable spirit should serve as an inspiration to all.

The Time Travel event at Newark Castle on Saturday served as another reminder of just what a historical jewel lies at the heart of the town.
Eager visitors took the opportunity to go down to the dungeons, visit the undercroft and climb the south-west tower.
Knowledgeable stewards at Nottinghamshire community archaeology team’s Time Travel Trent Vale event offered snippets of background that helped bring the history of the castle to life.
It was the second event of its kind at the castle. Newark’s rich seam of history should ensure it becomes established as an annual summer highlight.
