Motoring offences, stalking, and community order breaches among latest cases at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court
Motorists who used phones while driving, broke speed limits and drove without insurance are among the latest to be sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.
James Mayfield, 19, of Willows Walk, Newark, appeared at the court on November 11 and was disqualified from driving.
The Volkswagen driver used a hand-held mobile phone while driving on the A1 on March 21, an offence he pleaded guilty to on August 27.
Mayfield was fined £40, ordered to pay costs of £126 and had six points added to his licence.
His six month disqualification was obligatory due to repeat offending.
Uninsured driver Liam Shaw, 27, of Wetsyke Lane, Balderton was also banned from the roads for six months when he appeared in court on the same day.
Shaw’s offence took place when he drove a Audi on Trinity Road, Newark, on December 30, 2023.
He pleaded guilty on the day of his sentencing, and was fined £120, ordered to pay costs of £158, and had six points added to his licence.
His disqualification was also obligatory due to repeat offending.
Another uninsured driver, Carl Troake, 41, of Nottingham Road, Cropwell Bishop, was sentenced in his absence on November 4.
Troake drove a Ford on Berridge Road, Nottingham, without insurance, on November 30, 2023.
He was fined £660, ordered to pay costs of £374, and had six points added to his licence.
The Ford driver was also banned from driving for six months, again due to repeat offending.
Sally Ann Harding, 63, of Beacon View, Ollerton, was sentenced on November 12.
She drove a Mini over the 30mph speed limit on the A616 Wellow Road, Ollerton, on March 10.
Harding pleaded guilty to the offence on August 29.
She was fined £230, ordered to pay costs of £202, and had six points added to her licence.
Another speeding motorist, Chelsea Jade Hirst, 27, of Grange Road, Newark, was sentenced in her absence on October 22.
The Volkswagen driver exceeded the 30mph limit on Kings Mill Road/Kirkby Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield on August 24, 2023.
Hirst had pleaded not guilty to the offence on March 18, but it was subsequently proved in her absence.
She was fined £440, ordered to pay costs of £326, and had four points added to her licence.
Aside from motoring offences, a stalking protection order was also granted by the court.
Michael Ryan, 53, of Honeyknab Lane, Oxton, was made subject of the order when he appeared before Magistrates on November 5.
The two year order requires him to provide police with details of his telephone numbers, social media and email accounts, devices, and vehicles — as well as make devices available for inspection by the police.
It also bars him from contacting some named people, attending places they are known to be or some named addresses, and monitoring their movements in any way.
Darren Lee Rogers, 42, of Lincoln Road, Newark, appeared at the court on November 6, and was fined £300 for failing to comply with his community order requirements, a breach he admitted.
Rogers failed to answer the phone for a telephone appointment as instructed on September 2, and failed to contact probation as instructed on September 6.
His order had been made on August 21.
Naomi Pugh, 39, of Parliament Walk, Newark, appeared before magistrates on November 9.
She admitted her failure to comply with the requirements of her community order made on February 22, by failing to maintain contact with probation and provide updated contact details.
She was ordered to attend appointments or participate in up to ten days of rehabilitation activity as required by the responsible officer.
