Coronavirus: Newark MP Robert Jenrick wishes Prime Minister Boris Johnson a speedy recovery




Newark MP Robert Jenrick has sent his best wishes to Prime Minister Boris Johnson after he was admitted to hospital with coronavirus.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast this morning, the Housing Secretary said: "We would all wish him well. I hope he has a speedy recovery and gets back to Number 10 and can take charge in the way he would want as soon as possible.

"It is very frustrating for him, someone like Boris, who wants to be hands-on and running the government from the front."

Mr Johnson was admitted into hospital on Sunday, on doctors' advice.ten days after being diagnosed with virus for routine tests.

Mr Jenrick said Mr Johnson's hospitalisation was a precautionary measure because he continued to have persistent symptoms.

"He continues to run the government and has been despite, like people across the country, being self-isolated.

"I have been on calls with him every couple of days and he has been working extremely hard, being constantly updated and leading the government.

"He will continue to be kept informed."

Mr Jenrick went on to stress the importance of social-distancing, saying everyone must play their part in stopping the spread of the virus.
