MPs for Newark and Sherwood both show support for Rishi Sunak's leadership bid
Both members of Parliament for Newark, Robert Jenrick and Sherwood, Mark Spencer have tweeted their support for Rishi Sunak in his bid to become the next Prime Minister.
The news comes following the resignation of Boris Johnson as leader of the Conservative party and the announcement that he will also step down as prime minister once a replacement is found.
Rishi Sunak was the first conservative MP to throw their hat into the ring by launching his own leadership bid.
On Twitter Sherwood MP, Mark Spencer tweeted his endorsement saying: "Ready4Rishi.com You have to have the experience at the highest levels of Government to walk into being PM.
"Rishi has the skills, drive, answers to the big challenges and experience to deliver for the Country"
Alongside this message was a photo that read: "Rishi is the leader that can unite the party, bring the whole country together and win us that fifth general election victory. In serious times we need a person with a proven track record. Rishi gets my full support"
Robert Jenrick, MP for Newark also showed support for Rishi Sunak by retweeting his campaign video and message.
Late on Sunday the Newark MP also formally addressed his support for Rishi Sunak with a tweet explaining why he is doing so.

"He is the only candidate for Prime Minister who can provide the grip required to get us through this difficult period and seize the incredible opportunities ahead of us."
