Newark Advertiser reader letter: Much negativity

I write with reference to the recent contributions from A. Meanwell and R. Miller (News Views, May 12) regarding Balderton Lake.

It would seem that A. Meanwell is unnecessarily jeopardising their mental health, making themselves “so sick” with the “boring” activity around the efforts of others to protect sites in Newark. So much so that they seem to have lost sight of who has done what, and the strain of it all has affected their judgment.

I suggest they simply stop reading about these issues and spend more time on other activities.

R. Miller adopts a scatter gun approach to demeaning conservation efforts by suggesting that the campaign to preserve Balderton Lake and the successful campaign to save Newark Library Gardens are somehow invalid or misguided because he or she is not seeing more activism around the Highfields development.

I congratulate them on their concern and I look forward to them assuming a supportive role in that campaign. It would be much healthier than spending time in such negativity. — J. Harding, Newark.
