A 53-year-old woman, from the same family, required medical attention at the scene.

Today two cuddly toys and flowers were put on the grass verge outside the family's home.

One villager who came to place a bouquet said she did not know the family but had heard about the tragedy and just wanted to do something.

Another said: "This is such an awful thing to have happened. It is hard to believe."

All Saints' Church, Collingham, will be open every day from 10am until 4pm until Christmas so people can call in if they want to pray or leave a message of condolence.

Emergency services were called to the property at 7am yesterday.

A cause has not yet been determined and a joint investigation between the police and fire service is ongoing. A cordon remains is still in place this afternoon.
