Newark murder investigation appeal expanded further by detectives, with witnesses and footage sought from Albert Street, Windsor Road, and Boundary Road
An appeal for witnesses, or footage of a fight, has been expanded amid an ongoing murder investigation.
Nottinghamshire Police’s detectives have widened their public appeal to include Albert Street, Windsor Road, and Boundary Road — and are further appealing to anyone who may have inadvertently captured footage of the incident in this area.
A murder investigation was launched last week after a man was found injured on the roadside of Lombard Street in the town centre, and later died at the scene.
Emergency services were called to reports of a motorist in distress, just before 5pm last Monday (June 16), where the already injured driver had pulled over.
He received urgent treatment as his condition deteriorated, but despite the best efforts of the paramedics in attendance, the man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterwards.
Police believe he sustained injuries during a separate incident that same day which may have contributed to him losing his life.
Detectives are currently working to the theory that the man was critically hurt in a fight near Albert Street, between 4pm and 4.04pm.
Police are now appealing specifically to anyone who was in Albert Street, Windsor Road, or Boundary Road — streets which it is believed the fight may have spilled onto — around that time, to come forward.
They also want to hear from anyone who thinks they may have inadvertently recorded footage of the incident, whether on their phone, CCTV, doorbell, or dash-cam.
Information can be shared anonymously through Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111, while the police can also be contacted over the phone on 101, quoting incident 547 of June 16, 2025.

Police conducted extensive CCTV and house-to-house inquiries as part of the investigation over the last week, which led to officers arresting a 19-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
The suspect has now been released on bail with strict conditions as the investigation continues.
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We believe the victim sustained the injuries that led to his death during a separate incident, around an hour earlier and just a few streets away.
“Our understanding is the man may have been hurt in a fight that took place in or around Albert Street, between 4pm and 4.04pm, last Monday.
“This dispute may have also spilled over to nearby Windsor Road or Boundary Road, and would’ve been quite visible, due to the lighting at that time of the day and the location near Newark town centre.
“Bearing this in mind, my ask would be for everyone who was in that area, at that time, to think whether they might have seen something.
“Even better, did you perhaps record something, inadvertently or otherwise, on a phone or on one of your cameras that may have captured what happened?
“Any piece of information you have could help us confirm what happened and solve this case for this man’s grieving family.
“Our inquiries are still very much ongoing on that front and our vow is to leave no stone unturned as part of this investigation.”
Inspector Charlotte Ellam, District Commander for Newark and Sherwood, added: “We understand the concern this incident has caused locally, which is why we’ve provided more of an increased police presence in the area over the last few days and why this will continue.
“As well as acting as a deterrent to crime on the streets, the purpose of these additional patrols is to provide you, the public, with some added reassurance.
“Please feel free to approach any of our officers and speak to them about any concerns you have, or to share any information you have relating to this case.”
