Newark Advertiser letter: National day

Hundreds of thousands of people have lost their lives to covid-19 in the UK.

I am backing calls for March 23 to be recognised as national Covid Memorial Day to remember lives lost and all the lives changed during the pandemic.

It will also offer an opportunity for us to commemorate the sacrifices of our key workers and remember how communities pulled together to support one another under the most difficult of circumstances.

I urge you to join our calls to the government to recognise March 23 as national Covid Memorial Day. — Rick Walsh, via email.
