Lincoln business owner and designer of Be Nice Clothing is donating 10% of her latest collection to Macmillan Cancer Support
A new clothing business owner and designer has created a collection inspired by her late father.
Danielle Nice, 28, who is originally from Newark but now lives in Lincoln, started Be Nice Clothing last year and launched it in April 2023.
Taking advantage of her surname, Danielle hoped to make people happy and smile through empowering and positive affirmations on her designs.
She designed and embroidered all hoodies and T-shirts from the comfort of her home with an embroidery machine that her mother-in-law didn’t use.
Danielle said: “I woke up one day and just thought ‘why not? What have I got to lose?’
“I’ve always been so unsure of what I want to do with my life. I’ve had several jobs but I’ve always known that they weren’t going to be a forever thing.
“And even if this isn’t forever, I know for a fact it’s the most enjoyable and rewarding thing I’ve done so far. I’d love to do this for years to come and hopefully get big one day.”
Her first collection includes hoodies and T-shirts with phrases like ‘be a nice human’, ‘nice to see you’, ‘talk a little nicer to yourself’. All of her products come in a range of sizes.
“I’m here for the positive affirmations, I feel like a lot of people can relate to them more than ever at the minute, so if I can put a smile on someone’s face then I’m more than happy,” said Danielle.
Three months ago, Danielle’s father, Martin Nice, lost his battle of two years against cancer.
“I’ve decided to turn my heartbreak into positivity and hope for others. I’m doing a Martin Nice Collection, which is cancer-related hoodies, tees and socks. Although the socks technically have swearing on them, he would laugh!”
For each order of the Martin Nice Collection, 10% will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support as the charity supported Danielle’s father and the family during and after the treatment.
“They were truly amazing for everything they did for my dad so if I can just pay it back a little bit, then I will,” she added.
All the clothes are available online, on the brand’s website – https://benice-clothing.co.uk/, Instagram and Facebook page.
Danielle said that although she’d only run the business for eight months, it was so far going better than she imagined. She said she listens to what people around her and new customers like and want and takes that into consideration when designing.
“The best thing about all this is definitely the comments I get, how comfortable everything is and the comments to other people about the clothes that they are wearing.
“I can’t wait to see where this goes in the next couple of years.”
