Peter Harris named as new chairman of Southwell Town Council

A new chairman has been chosen for a council, after their long-serving predecessor stepped down.

Peter Harris was elected as the new chairman of Southwell Town Council, at a full council meeting held on Wednesday, October 16.

He replaces Martin Stott, who held the position for a number of years but has recently stepped down from his role both as chairman and as a town councillor.

Speaking after the meeting, Mr Harris said: ā€œI’m looking forward to taking forward the budget for next year, which is something we are working on, as well as supporting the Town Environment going ahead, and developing ideas for the town forum as well.ā€

He had previously held the role of vice chair under Mr Stott.
