You Can Do Sport Academy expands its venues from Magnus Church of England Academy to a second one at YMCA Community and Activity Village
A new college campus is set to broaden the horizons of youth sports and education in Newark.
You Can Do Sports Academy is expanding its vision to YMCA Community and Activity Village, Newark, introducing a new college environment for students seeking a more autonomous learning experience.
The academy will also continue to operate from Magnus Church of England Academy, as it has for the past six years.
The YCDS College will be a new education venue introducing a college environment, directed for students seeking a more autonomous learning experience.
The expansion is taking place in partnership with the YMCA alongside their continuous collaborations with Magnus Church of England Academy.
The expansion means that the YCDS will operate from two sites, one at the academy and one at YMCA Newark, each offering benefits to cater to different student needs and preferences.
Training sessions for both venues are synchronised to ensure consistent quality and experience across the board in boxing, football and rowing.
At the YMCA, students will be offered different qualifications, such as a level 3 diploma in personal training, outdoor exercise, and sports conditioning, which is equivalent to one A-level.
It also offers a level 3 extended diploma in sport and physical activity, which is equivalent to two A-levels and includes comprehensive programme qualifications that don’t require final exams.
At Magnus Academy, students can achieve triple A-levels qualifications; BTEC level 3 extended diploma in sport; a double BTEC in sport and an A-level and a single BTEC in sport and two A-levels.
You Can Do Sports Academy started as a football academy and has grown to be a boxing academy, in partnership with Carl Greaves Boxing Academy, and a rowing academy, in partnership with the Newark Rowing Club.
It has grown its female football academy from one player in its first year to 10 players and is hoping to have enough female academy students to field a team in the 2024/25 league.
As the academy embarks on a new chapter with a new venue, it invites students, parents, teachers and professionals to explore the opportunities.
