Castlegate Fish Bar in Newark to reopen as X Gate Fish Bar after remodelling by new owner, who runs Club X in Newark’s Corn Exchange on Castlegate
A fish restaurant is due to reopen after being completely remodeled.
The former Castlegate Fish Bar in Newark has been bought by Aygun Acinik, the current owner of Club X in the Newark Corn Exchange, which is just across the road on Castlegate.
The new-look takeaway has also been renamed as X Gate Fish Bar and will re-open to the public next Tuesday (January 23).
The inside has been redecorated with a welcoming and fun seaside theme and bright lighting and most kitchen and counter equipment has been replaced with newer models.
The menu will also be expanded, with the classic fish and chips remaining at the heart of the business, but a range of burgers, pizzas and kebabs will now be offered.
New owner, Aygun, said: “I have been looking at this place for a while because it’s always been popular and busy and I got the opportunity.
“We have changed everything — new decorations, new equipment, and better quality food.
“I like the nets and the shells and I think it will be fun.
“It was a busy place before, but we want to make it better.”
An every day ‘blue-light discount’ of 25% and free drinks will be available for emergency service personnel and members of the military.
New opening hours will see the fish bar open from 4pm to 11.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays — initially it will be closed on Mondays.
On Fridays and Saturday the takeaway will open from from 4pm to 3.30am to make the most of the busiest evenings in the town centre.
Customers that phone directly to make an order will be offered free delivery within a 3 mile radius of the restaurant, when spending over £20.
