New mayor named

The new Mayor of Ollerton and Boughton is Mrs Irene Miller.

Mrs Miller, 66, of Station Road, Ollerton, was elected at the town’s annual meeting yesterday, replacing Mr Jason Ferguson.

She told the meeting: “I have got some big shoes to fill. I have enjoyed working on projects with Jason.

“I will do my best and make you proud.”

Mrs Miller, born and raised in Ollerton, is semi-retired and works at South Forest Leisure Complex.

She is chairman of the Ollerton Of Yesteryear group, secretary of Ollerton and Boughton District Sports Forum, a trustee of the local Homestart group, and a member of the Ollerton Ladies’ Section.

Mr Tony Spratley was elected as deputy mayor and Mr Ben Wells was re-elected as council leader.

Mr Stan Crawford is deputy leader.

Mr Glen Bardill was co-opted as a town councillor at the meeting.
