Owner of MIS, a motorcycle dealership on Jessop Way, Newark, explains why he chose the location

The owner of one of the town’s newest businesses has explained why he chose Newark as a location.

Bob Thomson, owner of MIS, a motorcycle dealership on Jessop Way, described the business as the brainchild ‘of two old chaps who really should know better.’

“Over the past 20 years I had built up a collection of classic bikes,” said Bob, who lives in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.

Bob had previously worked in the film industry and, having sold his company in 2015, set out to turn his passion for motorcycles into a business.

“Initially I had planned to undertake this nearer too where I live,” he said.

“And then my colleague suggested we look at where he is based, the fine town of Newark.

“I was immediately impressed. Newark ticks all the boxes for a business start up.”

He complimented the town’s transport links, business space and council.

“There is also an active and friendly motorcycling community,” he said.

“I consider Newark an ideal location for the company now and in the future.”

The dealership sells, services and repairs classic motorcycles and uses technology described as very analogue in an increasingly digital world.

“We wish to develop a close association with the local motorcycling community to become a destination for social events and meetings,” Bob said.
