Aiming for happy, healthy and productive workplaces
A new wellbeing consultant has been appointed to help make East Midlands companies healthier, happier and more productive.
Workplace health and wellbeing company Health@Work has expanded into the region with its nationally-recognised Workplace Wellbeing Charter.
The company, established nearly 15 years ago, has opened a new office for Nottingham and the surrounding area, providing health, safety and wellbeing services and training.
The new consultant is Yvonne McAdam, whose previous roles have included looking after marketing and promotions at the Magnus Church of England Academy, Newark.
Yvonne, who lives in Southwell, is married with two sons and a daughter. Her husband, Eddie McAdam, is a manager at Center Parcs.
After graduating with a degree in psychology, Yvonne went on to work in organisations including Social Enterprise East Midlands, IKEA, the NHS and One Year No Beer — an organisation set up to help people reduce their alcohol consumption.
Later, she gained qualifications in nutrition advice and as a business coach. She has also volunteered for several charities, including Samaritans.
Before joining Health@Work, Yvonne worked for Explore Family, a family support organisation helping those affected by others’ drug and alcohol use.
Yvonne said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the new workplace wellbeing consultant for the East Midlands. I am looking forward to connecting with businesses right across the region to help them grow and support their employee health and wellbeing agenda.”
Yvonne said joining Health@Work was a natural fit for her qualifications and experience. As a psychology graduate, she was keen to make use of the subject.
“I wanted to get back to that side of things, but putting a positive spin on it,” she said.
“I have also worked across all sectors — private, public and corporate — so that appealed to them.
Health@Work has worked with companies, including Jaguar Landrover, United Utilities and NHS England, on a range of programmes to improve employee wellbeing.
Along with its expansion, the company aims to increase the profile of its flagship programme, The Workplace Wellbeing Charter, which helps employers to understand how they can support and improve employee wellbeing.
Matt Liggins, director of Wellbeing for Health@Work, said: “We are really proud to announce the national expansion of our health, safety and wellbeing programmes and to have a base in such a vibrant city like Nottingham.
“Workplace health and wellbeing is no longer a nice-to-have, it’s essential to good business practice and we are happy to help businesses and organisations — large and small — improve their employee wellbeing offer.”
Health@Work works with organisations of all sizes and sectors across the UK, delivering health, safety and wellbeing services, including a wide range of training, audits, events, health checks and consultancy.
