New school a step nearer

The redevelopment of The Grove School, Balderton, should move a step closer today.

Nottinghamshire County Council’s planning committee is being asked to give outline approval to an application for a new school on the existing London Road site and to demolish the old one when it is complete.

The main school buildings were built between 1955 and 1974.

A report to the committee says they are reaching the end of their life and are no longer suitable for the delivery of a modern education curriculum.

The scheme is part of the Government’s Building Schools For The Future programme.

Relocate

The new school will be built mainly where the all-weather pitches and running track are.

The county council says it could be two years before work starts on the new school.
