New slide at Sherwood Avenue Play Park vandalised
A new slide at a play park has been taped off after being vandalised.
Newark and Sherwood District Council’s team has tapped off a slide at Sherwood Avenue Play Park in Newark after a number of individuals have severely damaged the slide.
The team is surveying CCTV footage of the area and has already identified some of the individuals.
A district council spokesperson wrote: “Vandalising public property is illegal and has a huge negative impact on us all.
“Residents and their young children should be able to enjoy play areas safely.”
The slide will remain taped off while the team ensures it is safe to use again.
Anyone who sees antisocial behaviour taking place is encouraged to report it to the police on 101 or to the district council on 01636 650 000.
The district council added: “An important part of the recent work undertaken at Sherwood Avenue Play Park was the installation of CCTV cameras in our effort to reduce ASB and mindless vandalism in this fantastic town centre park.
“We will investigate these issues and seek to ensure perpetrators are held to account for their actions.”
