Japanese tuition centre expands services to Newark Library on Beaumond Gardens, Newark

A Japanese educational network is expanding its services to a town centre early next year.

Kumon Institute of Education will start tuition services at Newark Library in Beaumond Gardens on January 6, offering individualised, self-paced tutoring in maths and English for students of all ages, from preschoolers to high schoolers.

Sheila Amina, who has partnered with Kumon to create the Newark Centre, has decided to change her path in life from mechanics to help students achieve their academic results through tuition.

With a degree and an MBA in mechanical engineering she is currently pursuing her Postgraduate Certificate in Education, intending to obtain a qualified teacher status.

“The new centre will strive to create a positive and enriching experience that supports students' academic journeys while fostering a love for learning within the community,” said Sheila.

With over 130 centres operating in the UK alone, the centre will operate after school hours, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3.30pm to 6.30pm and Saturdays from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

There will be room to expand hours based on demand, to ensure that more students can benefit from the educational resource as it aims to accommodate families’ needs.

The new centre manager said: “The expansion into Newark not only reflects Kumon’s commitment to reaching more students but also provides local families with enhanced educational resources.

“This growth not only contributes to Kumon's expansion but also enriches the educational landscape in Newark.”

The centre will feature trained instructors dedicated to helping students develop essential skills and confidence.

Sheila said that parents can anticipate regular progress updates, ensuring they stay informed about their child's development as well as engaging resources and materials will be made available to make learning enjoyable and effective.

She concluded: “The presence of Kumon centres can boost local employment by creating jobs for instructors and staff, contributing to the economic growth of Newark.

“By promoting lifelong learning and educational achievement, Kumon encourages a culture of continuous improvement, ultimately benefiting the entire community as students become better prepared for future challenges.”
