Confirmed coronavirus cases in Newark and Sherwood reaches 6,542 today (Monday, February 22) as easing of national lockdown set to be announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson

Another 26 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Newark and Sherwood, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

Ashfield 8,835 (up 26) Bassetlaw 7,277 (up 33) Broxtowe 6,539 (up 20) Gedling 7,488 (up 33) Mansfield 7,366 (up 38) Newark and Sherwood 6,542 (up 26) Rushcliffe 6,403 (up 25) and Nottingham 28,657 (up 84) Nottinghamshire 50,450 (up 201).

In the last seven days there have been 256 positive cases recorded in Newark and Sherwood. This represents a slight decrease.

In the latest 24-hour period, no new deaths in Newark and Sherwood were reported within 28 days of testing positive for the virus, according to the latest data. It leaves the total at 191.

In total, the number of people vaccinated in the UK stands at 17,582,121 — the latest data.

According to the latest public data, 4,115,509 patients in the UK have tested positive and 120,580 people have died within 28 days of positive test.

An easing of the national lockdown is due to be announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson at around 3pm today (Monday).

It is believed schools will return, with some softening of outdoor mixing restrictions.
